This weeks #weddingwednesday blog post will be tackling the age old myth of “when you find the one you’ll cry!” Although many brides have an amazing reaction when they put on the perfect dress, it isn’t always the case. Not crying should not hold a bride back from saying yes to her dream dress. And this is why:
All brides have different reactions. Sometimes they put the dress on and they know right away while other times they have to go back and forth between a couple. Trying on dresses is an intimidating experience for some because your body is put on display in front of your closest friends and relatives to see while trying to make one of the biggest decisions of your life! Sometimes the dress can look terrible, be missing something special, or just isn’t your style and that defeat can become tiring. A lot of brides are scared to death that a sample dress isn’t going to fit them so they get very nervous and sometimes lose focus on what is important about the dress and day itself.
There are many factors in choosing a wedding dress that can make crying go on the back-burner. Through working at Meadows Bridal Shop, I have found that brides have three things at the top of their priority list: comfort, beauty, and style. By the time the bride finds the perfect dress, they are so relieved that they can forget to cry. We have found that brides usually cry happy tears because it finally becomes a reality that they are getting married! The entire wedding planning process can be extremely stressful and scary but dress shopping doesn’t have to AND shouldn’t be.
Moral of the story: not everyone cries tears of joy when they find their dress and you are completely normal if you don’t. However, they are always happy and excited when they find their dress. It is a huge check off the wedding planning list so don’t let not crying stop you! Happy wedding dress shopping!
